Meet Diane with Stella

Meet Our Logo Dog - Stella

Stella started life in Kentucky with 8 siblings. She was one of 2 puppies which looked more like Labs then Chows. When she was 6 weeks old, her mom was hit by a car and had to be put down. Stella and her siblings found there way to a "no kill" shelter in Sterling, Massachusetts.

When she was 8 weeks old, Stella "fell into a bucket of love" when she was adopted by a family of five.

Stella's owners were Diane's first clients. They came to Paws Down Training Service, LLC to learn more about dogs and the different breeds before they even embarked on this life changing experience. Diane explained what different breeds were originally bred for and their energy levels. She also went over the importance of proper exercise and the structure that a dog needs to be part of a family pack. After they found the dog to fit their life style (Stella), they received private lessons.

Now this family of five has become a pack of six and they now do not know what they would do without Stella.

Meet Diane, Handler/Dog Trainer

Diane Cunningham, a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and the International Association of Canine Professionals owns and operates Paws Down Training Service, LLC. She completed a year long apprenticeship at a local kennel prior to opening her own business in 2006. She continues her education by attending national conferences on an annual basis and regional seminars as they become available.

She offers dog obedience instruction to pets and their owners through positive reinforcement. Her goal is to teach people to communicate with their dogs and to understand a dog's need to be part of the family pack.

Diane has always had dogs in her life. At a very young age she was able to understand that owners and dogs need to be able to communicate to each other effectively or it becomes a frustrating relationship for both.

In addition to her husband, Diane shares her home with Carmel, a 9 year old German Shepherd which she has had since he was a pup and Gwin a Golden Retriever mix she recently rescued from a shelter in Georgia.

Diane loves the moment when a pet owner realizes that their dog will actually listen to them and their whole face lights up. At the same time, the dog becomes attentive, waiting anxiously to see what will happen next.
